Armed self-defence may be only option: Sangliana

Bangalore, Mar 13 : Ex-senior cop H T Sangliana has alerted the government to the prospect of armed self-defence by minorities if attacks against them continued in the state, particularly in Dakshina Kannada region.

“If the government doesn’t act effectively and attacks on minorities, like the one on women on Monday, continue, a situation of armed self-defence and confrontation in the region may arise,” he said on Tuesday.

“Worse, you can expect communal conflicts too,” he warned.

“Women were beaten up in Mangalore. And recently, RSS members trespassed into St Aloysius College.

In Mangalore again, the arm of a Jesus Christ statue was missing. What is the home minister doing? Where is he?” Sangliana charged.
