Bangalore, Mar 25 : It is time for Congress to release its first list of candidates for Lok Sabha polls 2009.
Dr. HT Sangliana is one of the names figured in the first list which was announced tonight in Delhi.
KPCC President R.V. Deshpande and Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge left for Delhi after Sonia Gandhi addressed a rally at Davangere yesterday.

Mallikarjun Kharge, who is the Chairman of Maharashtra Candidates Selection Committee held discussions with Sonia Gandhi in this regard yesterday night.

Sonia Gandhi will finalise the list of candidates after holding final round of talks today with Selection Committee Chairman for Karnataka A.K. Antony and R.V. Deshpande, it is learnt.

The first list of 12 includes Mallikarjun Kharge (Gulbarga), Janardhan Poojary (Dakshina Kannada), former Chief Minister S. Bangarappa (Shimoga), K.H. Muniyappa (Kolar), S.S. Mallikarjun (Davangere), B. Shivaram (Hassan), N.Y. Hanumanthappa (Bellary), H.T Sangliana (Bangalore Central), C.K. Jaffer Sharief (Bangalore North), Manjunath Kunnur (Dharwad), H. Viswanath (Mysore) and Prakash Hukkeri (Chikkodi).

There is, however, confusion regarding the candidature of former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna from Bangalore South.

There is tussle between sitting member Tejaswini Gowda and KPCC Working President D.K. Shivakumar for Bangalore rural seat and between Veerappa Moily and M.R. Seetaram for Chikkaballapur seat.

Though there is keen tussle between D.K. Taradevi and B.L. Shankar for Udupi-Chikkamagalur seat, it would be no surprise if Jayaprakash Hegde is fielded at the last moment.

After the Tug of War for Bangalore Central ticket between HT Sangliana and Jaffer Sharief, the later planning to shift camp to JD(S) has finally given in to the Congress High Commands decision.
