- HT Sangliana on a Public Meeting in Bangalore on Sunday
He does not seem to recognize that he lost the previous election to a newcomer. He is basking on his past glory of 35 years reign on Bangalore Under Development. Times have changed. Old Timers Cling to Post when they have become obsolete.
In clear contradiction to what Sharief had told AICC President Sonia Gandhi, when Sharief told Sonia earlier that he will not contest the polls.
Now he is crying wolf over threatening to pitch camp to fork out a better, stronger candidate. The Congress veteran has threatened to quit the Congress if he is denied a ticket to contest the coming Lok Sabha polls from Bangalore Central Constituency.
The former BJP MP, H.T. Sangliana, who has joined the Congress, is another aspirant for the ticket from the party high command to contest polls from Bangalore North. The former Bangalore City Police Commissioner, Sangliana, was elected from the Bangalore North in the last Lok Sabha elections. He defeated Mr. Sharief.
Speaking to a few select journalists here at his residence on Saturday, the former Railway Minister said he would give a shock to the party if he was denied ticket.
Sources in the party indicated that Party President Sonia Gandhi had favoured the candidature of Mr. Sangliana, who voted in favor of the United Progressive Alliance Government during the crucial voting in the parliament on the Indo-US nuclear deal. The BJP voted against the deal. BJP later expelled Mr. Sangliana from the party.

The JD-S is waiting for the announcement of the list by the Congress to rope into the party a prominent Muslim leader - Sharief. If Mr Sharief joins the JD-S, he would contest from Bangalore north, which has a large number of Muslim voters.
To avoid any defections in the Congress, the leaders have been convincing Mr. Sharief to remain in the party in the interest of the state.
Meanwhile, several members of the Congress unit of Chikkaballapur constituency staged a protest before the Congress Bhavan here on Saturday demanding the party ticket to local Vokkaliga leader Rajanna in the coming Lok sabha elections.
They opposed fielding of outsider in the constituency. Former Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily is doing the rounds for the Chikkaballapur constituency. However, the party is yet to officially announce the candidate for the constituency.
